John Hattie is a Professor of Education and Director of the Visible Learning Labs, University of Auckland, New Zealand. He has piloted more than 30 million dollars in research grants, has published over 350 articles, 300 conference papers, twelve books and supervised close to 200 thesis students. The coronavirus pandemic has, for all its negatives, presented education with the first real chance to put "educator-led" changes into practice in education – and proved that a new way is possible, according to Professor John Hattie. Albert Bandura’s work has been corroborated in the field of education by leading researcher Dr. John Hattie, who defines collective teacher efficacy as “teachers working together towards a common goal” (Hattie, 2018). John Hattie did not review explicit teaching per se, but he did find that Direct Instruction was very effective. Direct Instruction involves explicitly teaching a carefully sequenced curriculum. And, it has built-in cumulative practice.
